Kristján Hannesson currently studies the continuity between Latin and vernacular Renaissance literature. Looking past the classification of literature into strictly linguistic categories, Kristjan examines the movement of ideas between texts written in Latin and Italian and English. Focusing particularly on comic and satirical literature from Boccaccio to Shakespeare, he aims to develop a perspective on Renaissance periodization that yields a more meaningful analytical tool for "holistic" research of Renaissance literature.
