An interactive pedagogy workshop for teaching fellows in English and Comparative Literature

Join us! Inspired by bell hooks's book, "Teaching to Transgress: Education as the Practice of Freedom," Communication PhD Scholar, Nicole Castro (she/her pronouns) helps us bring black feminist critiques of colonial models of education to life in our syllabi and classrooms.
This workshop gives graduate instructors space to reflect on the values they want to manifest in their classrooms: dialogue, experimentation, new knowledges, well-being. Through collaboration, this workshop allows us to share ideas on a syllabus/activity/assignment design. Please bring a syllabus activity that you want to re(design), as well as your favorite activities or assignments for sharing. Together, we'll co-create pedagogical strategies for welcoming "tough" topics like racism, ableism, and gender.
